Kimmel Radiant
(mPRm) As the final prize for winning Pontiac's "Countdown to 1" emerging artist contest, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" will air a performance by indie rock band Radiant on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 (12:05 - 1:05 a.m., ET, approx). The late-night talk show will broadcast footage from the Pontiac Garage in Times Square where Radiant opened for P.O.D and My Chemical Romance on New Year's Eve 2006. Radiant is comprised of Levi Smith on vocals and guitar, Dragan Jakovljevic on guitar and Daniel Hopkins on drums. The band members, all in their twenties, released their latest LP, We Hope You Win this year and have three other full length albums to their credit: A Year of Holidays (2001) and The Sound of Splitting Atoms (2003). The band also won the Dallas Observer's "Best New Band" award in 2004.
Stars score7 in victory against Avs
Philippe Boucher and Jere Lethinen each had a goal and an assist for Dallas, which set a season high for goals in a 7-5 victory against Colorado in a game neither starting goaltender finished. All-Star goalie Marty Turco was pulled from his second straight start for the Stars after giving up two goals in less than a minute midway through the second period. Colorado's Peter Budaj had been replaced earlier in the period after Dallas went ahead 4-1. Stars center Eric Lindros, who hasn't scored a goal since Nov. 20, missed the game with a lower-body injury. LIGHTNING 4, DEVILS 1: Nick Tarnasky and Vincent Lecavalier scored in a 48-second span to cap a three-goal second period, leading Tampa Bay past New Jersey in East Rutherford, N.J. The Lightning's Vaclav Prospal and Dan Boyle also scored, and Johan Holmqvist had 21 saves.
Dallas Pike, Glen Dale Robbery Suspect Sought
Deputies believe an armed robbery in the Dallas Pike area late Thursday was the work of a man already suspected in a recent armed heist in Marshall County.
John Vincent Boido was identified as the suspect in the robbery of the Winners Circle restaurant and bar on Stoolfire-West Alexander Road, which occurred just before midnight Thursday.
Boido is a suspect in a similar incident at Genos on W.Va. 2 in Glen Dale in late December.
Glen Dale Police Chief Norm Stenger said his department is still searching for Boido in connection with the Genos robbery.
A warrants been issued. Were just waiting for him to pop up, Stenger said, noting the warrant is for a felony offense.
Ohio County sheriffs Chief Deputy Pat Butler said Boido tried to cash a check at the Winners Circle on Thursday, but it was denied.
One-way Regionalism
A 2004 economic impact study by retired state economist Harvey Siegelman, president of the Strategic Economics Group, and Iowa State University economics professor Daniel Otto estimated that the airport would potentially generate $48.3 billion in taxable business valuation over a 20-year period and create an additional $1.8 billion in property tax receipts for communities participating in its development.
West Metro Airport Authority spokesman Larry Lyon, who's also a Waukee school board member, said he and other leaders in the county recognize the importance of a strong regional economic development group like the Partnership, but the supervisors' resolution does little to promote cooperation between Dallas and Polk counties.
"I'm frankly sorry they chose to take that stand," he said."We may choose to grow Dallas County in a different way, and there's enough business for all of us."
Lyon said more than construction of an airport is involved in the plan for the identified site, located on the southwest corner at the intersection of Dallas County R22 and U.S.Highway 6 in unincorporated Ortonville, an area Adel city leaders have voiced interest in annexing.
