Man charged in fatal crash arrested for DUI two days earlier
The man charged with two felony counts of drunk driving for running down and killing an 83-year-old Brookfield resident and severely injuring her 88-year-old husband in the 4000 block of Prairie Avenue on Monday night was out on bond for a charge of driving under the influence in North Riverside just two days before. North Riverside Police confirmed that Thomas J. Postulka, 45, had been arrested for DUI just after midnight on Jan. 20 after reportedly losing control of his 1999 Pontiac and knocking over a streetlight at the intersection of Cermak Road and First Avenue. North Riverside Police Chief Anthony Garvey confirmed that Postulka did have a valid driver's license at the time of the North Riverside incident. Postulka was also cited for leaving the roadway, damage to village property and having no proof of insurance in that incident.
NASCAR suspects teams of violations
DAYTONA BEACH — A year after Jimmie Johnson's crew chief was thrown out of Daytona International Speedway for cheating, three other teams, including one of the new Toyota entries, could face similar penalties. After Sunday's pole qualifying for the Daytona 500, in which Robert Yates Racing's David Gilliland and Ricky Rudd swept the front row, NASCAR disallowed the qualifying times of Kasey Kahne and Matt Kenseth and impounded the Toyota of Michael Waltrip. .
NA fails to debate law, order
ISLAMABAD, Feb 12: Frayed tempers blocked a law and order debate and a key bill in the National Assembly on Monday before the house agreed to entertain multiple opposition privilege motions about violence in Saturdays by-elections for a National Assembly seat and a provincial assembly seat in Sindh. The government had set the date for the debate on the law and order situation last week but the plan failed just before the start of the discussion after Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sher Afgan Khan Niazi made the discussion conditional to transaction of some legislative business, to which the opposition did not agree. A meeting of representatives from both sides called by Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain in his chamber failed to resolve the row, leaving it unclear when the debate would be held.

For the third week in a row on the Blotter, multiple teens died in a car crash this weekend. Nine young people, ages 14 through 23, packed themselves into a four-door sedan in Oswego early Sunday morning. The driver and only non-teen, 23-year-old Sandra Vasquez, slammed into a utility pole, killing four passengers and injuring the rest. Vasquez has been charged with driving under the influence. The accident also caused several power outages in the area. A water pipe burst in a condo at Belmont and Lake Shore Drive on Friday, necessitating the evacuation of 700 residents. The basement pipe flooded storage rooms and the boilers, knocking out the heat. Firefighters have found the work so difficult due to the amount of water and lack of heat that residents likely won't be able to return for a week.
